Maintaining the wild Bali Starling population on Nusa Penida island
The emergency
The Covid-19 endemic severely impacted Friends of National Park Foundation's financial and human resources, which were partly dependent on international volunteers, and therefore their ability to run and manage a network of nest boxes for Bali Starlings on Nusa Penida. At the time this was the only self-sustaining wild population and its conservation was partly-dependent on a network of maintained, and ideally expanded, nest boxes.
Results
Funding was used to help maintain and expand the nest box network on Nusa Penida, and to cover the costs for Friends of National Parks Foundation staff to monitor nesting success.
