Mission statement
Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Papua is a higher education institution focusing in animal and wildlife science based on three pillars of higher education (1) teaching, (2) conducting research, and (3) carrying out community services. In particular, the animal science laboratory conduct research on conservation of Papua’s wildlife endemic species including ASAP support key species, the Western long-beaked Echidna.

Earlier this year, a significant breakthrough was made in one of the projects funded by ASAP’s Species Conservation Fund. After a long search, the dedicated team rediscovered the very first specimen of an Mesilau Stream Toad, thought to have been lost to science.
